‘In Time’ (2011) Film Review
The story takes place in the future. There are lots of different things that do not exist in the real world. As you can guess, its genre is science fiction and it includes action, too.
There is no money in this world, and people pay for everything with their time. As time passes, the amount of money you have decreases. Another interesting aspect is that people’s appearances change until they become 25. After that, everyone looks young all through their time.
In the movie, you can see the time that you have on your arm. It is like a watch under your skin. For example, when you buy something, the amount of money decreases. But there is an essential point to it: if you spend all your money, you spend all your time. As a result, you die.
The Director and the Cast
The movie was directed by Andrew Niccol, who is also the screenwriter and is well-known for being the screenwriter of The Truman Show. Obviously, he can write on many different themes successfully. I believe he reflected this fictional world very realistically.
Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried star in the movie. They are a harmonious couple who can make us sympathize with them.
People can think that Justin Timberlake’s a singer, not an actor, but if you watch the movie, you will see what a wonderful actor he is. Also, I saw Amanda Seyfried for the first time in this movie. I haven’t watched her other movies yet but she has great acting skills. Other actors in the movie are also quite successful ones. To give an example, Cillian Murphy is a very well-known actor from some TV series such as Peaky Blinders and The Irish Revolution.
The movie had two nominations. It was nominated for the Best Independent Poster Category at the Golden Trailer Awards and Justin Timberlake was nominated for the Best Drama Actor category at the Teen Choice Awards but Zac Efron won the award. In my opinion, it is unfair that the movie has not got any awards.
Why I liked the movie and you should see it too
The most important reason that I love the movie is the concept. I admire this genius idea because it is authentic and it helps us understand how important time is.
I think the plot has a great timeline and the story is unpredictable.
The scenes are well-organized and quite professional. There are some stunning visual effects as I mentioned before. For example, the amount of time on people’s arms is high-tech visuals. From my point of view, those effects are very realistic and well-placed.
I do recommend seeing the movie because the main idea of the movie is impressive. Usually, I forget the plots or themes because they are so similar to each other, but I haven’t forgotten this movie since I first saw it, and I have watched it so many times.
Also, if you like watching action movies, you will enjoy the action scenes. What I want to say is, you should give it a chance.
