Hello everyone! I will write about the coffee culture of Italy. When we say coffee culture, a lot of different countries come to mind. Coffee is not just a drink; it reflects the traditions of many countries. The coffee culture of Italy has attracted my attention a lot. Coffee is consumed every hour of the day in Italy. If you go to Italy, you can find small businesses where you can buy coffee anywhere. The sign of these small businesses usually says “bar.” There is usually one or two in these shops. When ordering coffee in Italy, “caffè” is placed at the beginning of each coffee.
Cappucino
In Italy, different coffees are consumed in the morning, at lunch, and in the evening. You won’t find cappuccino in Italy after 11 o’clock in the morning. Italians prefer to drink cappuccino for breakfast. The cappuccino contains espresso, milk, and milk foam. Cappuccino is served with croissants in some Italian cafes. An espresso or macchiato is preferred after lunch or dinner. Italians see coffee as a source of energy. Drinking espresso in Italy is so enjoyable and unique that it adds something special to the moment. They drink their espresso standing up, in 2-3 sips, and finish with a quick “ciao.”
Caffe Lungo
Caffè lungo is usually preferred after meals in Italy. It is a lighter coffee than espresso. Caffè lungo is made with water and, according to preference, can be made with milk.
Caffe Ristretto
Caffè ristretto is preferred after dinner. It is stronger than espresso and is the most popular coffee in Italy.
Caffe Americano
Caffè Americano is a popular coffee in Italy, made by adding hot water to espresso. It’s a milder option than espresso.
Caffe Freddo
Caffè freddo is a popular cold coffee in Italy, especially in summer. It is made by cooling espresso and adding sugar. It is a refreshing drink on hot days.
Caffe Latte Macchiato
Caffè latte macchiato is a light coffee, and in Italy, “latte” is used as milk, not coffee. So if you just say latte when ordering coffee, you will be given milk.
Espresso is the basis of coffee culture in Italy. The biggest reason why I prefer Italy in this article is definitely the use of espresso. I also love the Italian coffee culture because I usually enjoy strong, bitter coffee.
Thank you for reading. I hope you get the chance to experience Italy’s vibrant coffee culture soon.
