To my future…
Chapter 1
While Murray was sleeping, the commander came and woke him up. He told him that the lab results were out. They immediately got ready and went to the laboratory. The lab said the results were good: “You can go into space now!” The rookie rejoiced, and the commander said, “Don’t get spoiled right away.” “We still have a lot of work to do,” added the commander. “You must meet the rest of the team and learn their duties,” he exclaimed. With great excitement, the rookie said, “Of course, sir,” and went to the operation center. It was a crowded and official environment. The rookie had already met a few people in the first few minutes. Emma and Yazgan the journalists; Na-Rae the space engineer; Gemma the geologist; Layana the biologist; Captains Adrian and Lachin; and Zeta the doctor.

But there were so many people that they entered the meeting hall before they could talk to all of them. The meeting started with the speech of Mr. Emre, the project chairman. After a speech full of enthusiasm, the meeting, which would last for several hours, started. Ah, yes, not all would go into space, but they were still present.

Chapter 2

10, 9, 8, 7 … 3, 2, 1, and the noise followed by a feeling of heaviness that would soon disappear. This was what it felt like to go into space. The vibrating, disturbing sound heard after the silence was the sizzling sound of some electromagnetic waves that caused the reactions in the plasma chamber of the latest model ‘Yenen’ engines to start.
The journey to the planet Esternia, the last discovery of the Yenen company, would take several months. Due to the limited space on the spacecraft compared to the Earth, traveling with a large crew could be challenging.
Chapter 3
It was an ordinary day for Anatolia and its crew until their ship suddenly stopped in frictionless space! “What was that?” said Adrian. “Did we fall into a black hole?” While everyone was saying something different, Commander Sasha said, “Silence!” and gave full power to the engines. Then, the dark space turned into a fair where fireworks cracked, and the ship started to move, but they were caught in a meteor shower, and the ‘Yerçi’ (the artificial intelligence of Anatolia spaceship responsible for navigation) was not working. Anatolia was hit; it lost altitude and started falling toward a distant planet away from its route.

Chapter 4
The rookie tried to get up, but he couldn’t. He heard a voice and called out. It was the Yerçi. “Mate, I don’t think I need navigation right now,” said Murray. Then another voice interjected and said, “It’s an AI, you idiot.” It was Joyce, the other rookie. “Then you should help,” said Murray. They stood up and looked around. A few injured survivors were together on an alien planet.

The captains and commanders were angry and the rookies were scared. What was this place? Was there life on the planet? Everyone was asking a different question. The voice of the Yerçi was heard again. The name of the planet was Vega, and it was about 10 lightyears away from Earth. “This is impossible!” exclaimed Professor Eldon. “You stupid robot, why are we trying to get to Esternia if we have the technology to go that far?” he grumbled. “Please calm down; the magnetic shifts probably messed up the meters,” Emma said. Zeta was busy caring for the injured and could only say that they were fine. Murray and Joyce looked at each other. The sunset looked amazing in the midst of such terrible events. They sat on the ground and were mesmerized by this cosmic event.

General Morando told Commander Craig that they had been the most unflappable team so far. “According to our scoring system, they are qualified for the Taron project. I think they are ready for a real mission this time, Craig,” and turned to the Simulator team and shouted, “Come on, people, wake them up. We have a discovery to make!”
