We all know that our beloved friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Peter Parker, became a hero with the help of his Uncle Ben’s wise words, “With great power comes great responsibility.” But what if Uncle Ben had died before teaching Peter this lesson? Would Peter still manage to become a hero? I have a theory to answer this question.
In the first Spider-Man movie, Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider, and then he gained superpowers. At first, he wasn’t sure whether he should use his powers to help people, but then his Uncle Ben told him to be responsible and helpful to others. Uncle Ben was a great man; unfortunately, he died while trying to stop a robbery from happening. His sudden death made Peter think about his situation. He decided to become a hero; he became Spider-Man.
However, in this version of the story, Uncle Ben died in the same robbery without telling Peter his famous words. When Peter learns about this unfortunate death, he has a meltdown. On top of his parents’ loss, he lost his uncle too. With this meltdown, he never learned that his powers are a blessing and that he has a huge responsibility. He never learned how to be a hero. Peter loses his mind and starts hunting those robbers. He finally finds them, but this time he isn’t responsible or forgiving. Don’t forget that he is not a hero. He kills those robbers, wishing he’d stop suffering. But his pain doesn’t end. He thinks that every bad guy needs to be punished for their acts. They must be hurt. Day by day, Peter loses his emotions, but his rage grows. One day, he meets another anti-hero like him, The Punisher. They understand each other’s pain and purpose. They become an unbeatable duo. They fight crime in NYC in a pretty harsh way. No second chances are given to criminals. With their way of dealing with crime, they also become a threat to the country and an enemy of the Avengers.
