1. Dragon Ball (1995-2003)

The first anime I want to talk about is Dragon Ball, which has a world-renowned fame and has been continuing for 40 years although it ended in 2003! Dragon Ball, which started as manga series, is created and drawn by Akira Toriyama. He was inspired by one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China, ‘’The Journey to The West’’. With Toriyama Sensei, Dragon Ball is embraced as the ancestor of shounen-type animes because Akira Toriyama inspired many other writers who came after him, with his style and creativity. You can see this inspiration when you watch other animes.
As for the topic of the anime, the events in the story take place around the protagonist, Son Goku, and Dragon Ball is about Son Goku’s adventures. Throughout the series, Son Goku’s life is reflected from his childhood to his adulthood as he trains in martial arts and discovers the world while looking for the Dragon Balls, which have the power to fulfill any wish.
2. One Piece (1999- …)

The other one is One Piece. It is created and drawn by Oda Eichiro, also it has been continuing for more than 20 years. The story is about the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate who gained the power of a rubber body after eating a Devil Fruit by accident. After gaining such a power, Luffy starts to seek the world’s greatest treasure, One Piece, which was left behind by Gold Roger, who was the former legendary Pirate King as he wants to become the next King of the Pirates. Since the start of his journey with his ship Going Merry, Luffy meets other characters with strange powers, too who will later join his crew, named the Straw Hat Pirates. The thing I like most about the anime is that it is quite successful in terms of connecting the past and present of the characters, and it makes you realise how one’s childhood memories and values can affect the character development of a person thanks to the flashbacks placed in patches within the plot.
Thank you for reading my post. See you in my next post!
